Devices Are Not on the Same WIFI Network
Your Samsung Smart TV and mobile device will need to be on the same WIFI network so they can "see" each other. Click here to find out how to check if your TV and mobile are on the same internet network.
Devices Are Too Old
iPHONE or iPAD
To work with the VidAngel app, your Apple mobile device should be at least iOS 14.
You'll also want to make sure you have the most updated version of the VidAngel app on your Apple. You can check that here: VidAngel on Apple
To cast to a Samsung TV, your Apple device and Samsung TV must be AirPlay 2-enabled. See: AirPlay 2–Enabled TVs and Devices
ANDROID PHONE or TABLET
To work with the VidAngel app, your Android mobile device should be at least Android 8.
You'll also want to make sure you have the most updated version of the VidAngel app on your Android. You can check that here: VidAngel on Android
SAMSUNG SMART TV
Make sure your TV is updated. You can check for updates by going to Settings > Support > Software Update > Update Now. If that doesn't work, please contact Samsung Support for instructions.
Did you ever see the App Launcher open up on the TV? Your TV needs this service to be compatible with VidAngel.
App Launcher supports devices with a "+" , so Samsung Smart TVs:
- H-series (year 2014) (+)
- F-series (year 2013) (+)
- E-series (year 2012) (+)
Mirroring not supported
VidAngel will not work with mirroring. Make sure you're using the Cast icon or the "Send to TV" button.
You will know if you're mirroring if you see your mobile's exact screen and movements on the TV vs. when casting you are just sending the video to the TV screen. Mirroring can also display in portrait mode instead of landscape and may not take up the whole screen.
Newer Samsung with Chromecast Built-In
If the "Send to Samsung Smart TV" option is not working, and you have a newer Samsung TV that supports Chromecast, then please try the "Send to Chromecast" option instead.
Permissions not granted
In the initial contact between your mobile and the TV, there should have been a pop-up to give permission.
If you are having difficulty getting your mobile device and the TV to "talk" please follow those directions from the popup: Menu > Network > Multimedia Device Manager and make sure your mobile device is allowed. If you need further assistance with this aspect, please contact Samsung Support.
