If you're trying to watch by casting to your Fire device, but your mobile device can't "see" or connect with your Fire device, here are solutions to the most common issues.
Additionally, if you'd prefer to not have to cast, you can install the VidAngel app right on our Fire TV device: Watch on Fire TV
- The Android app has stopped casting
- Are your devices are not on the same WIFI network?
- Are your devices are too old?
- Are you casting from an Apple mobile? Check this out.
- Try rebooting your devices
- Still having trouble?
Android stopped casting
The Amazon code that talks to and casts to the Fire TV is no longer officially supported by the Google Play Store, so casting from Android devices has stopped working. If you have an Android, please go HERE for a workaround to start casting again.
Better yet, ditch casting and get the VidAngel app directly on your Fire TV device: Watch on Fire TV
Devices Are Not on the Same WIFI Network
Your Fire device and mobile device will need to be on the same WIFI network so they can "see" each other. Click here to find out how to check if your Fire device and mobile device are on the same internet network.
Devices Are Too Old
PHONE or TABLET
To work with the VidAngel apps, your mobile device should be Android 8 or iOS 12.
You'll also want to make sure you have the most updated version of the VidAngel app on your mobile device. You can check that here: iOS and Android
FIRE TV / FIRESTICK
Your Fire device will need to be at least Fire OS 6. You can check by going to Settings > My Fire TV > About > look for Software Version.
You can usually check for updates by going to Settings > My Fire TV > About > Check for Updates. If that doesn't work, please contact Amazon support for instructions.
Casting From an Apple device: Turn on permissions
You may need to turn on local permissions for the VidAngel app. You can see how to do that here: Can't Cast From iOS
Reboot Your Devices
PHONE or TABLET
Force/hard close the VidAngel mobile app (sometimes said as "kill the app") and then restart your mobile device.
FIRE TV / FIRESTICK
You can reboot a Fire device by unplugging it or manually restarting it.
You can restart it by going to Home > My Fire TV > Restart > Restart. If that doesn't work for your device please contact Amazon Support for instructions.
We have noticed that with a Fire device, you may have to reboot it more than once.
