What happened with Roku?
Roku announced that on February 23, 2022, it was going to sunset all channels not available through its official store. This includes the current VidAngel channel. This means that VidAngel, and all other non-certified channels, no longer work on all Roku devices.
We know that many of our customers have used Roku to enjoy VidAngel and apologize for the inconvenience this decision creates.
So why isn’t VidAngel in Roku’s official store?
We’ve submitted the VidAngel channel for review multiple times over the years, including as recently as the fall of 2021. Each time, Roku declined to approve our channel and provided little insight regarding that decision. That’s why, in the past, users had to manually install our app onto their Roku device rather than downloading it from the official store.
We remain optimistic that they will reconsider in the future. In the meantime, we have refocused our efforts on expanding the number of devices and systems where you can watch VidAngel.
How can I continue to use VidAngel?
We’ve recently improved the ways you can watch VidAngel on your TV with more apps built specifically for the big screen. (See How can I watch VidAngel on my TV?) In case you’re confused by the names of these TV devices, please know that you don't need to get another kind of television set. You can use any of these device boxes with your Roku TV or other Smart TVs by simply plugging them into the HDMI port, just like a Roku box.
APPLE TV
We’ve recently improved the VidAngel app for Apple TV, making your viewing experience better than ever while also offering seamless integrations for iOS users.
