Amazon made some changes that caused the casting from our Android app to a Fire TV device to no longer work. We do have a fix, but unfortunately, the Amazon code used to cast to the Fire TV is no longer officially supported by the Google Play Store.
But don't despair! We have a workaround for you. You can continue to cast to your Fire TV by using a "sideloaded" version of our Android app. Or better yet, don't cast at all and use our native VidAngel Fire TV app! Here's how to do either of those options:
Install the Android casting app
- Go to the GooglePlay store and turn OFF auto-updates for our app so it doesn't overwrite the fix.
-
THEN delete/uninstall the old VidAngel app from your mobile device.
Don't worry, you'll still be able to watch on your mobile as well with the new app.
- Click or go to this link on your Android: https://vidangel.app/android/latest.apk
- You'll receive a warning about this type of file. Click "OK."
(This is a standard warning for something downloaded from outside the official Google Store.)
- Click "Open."
- If you've never sideloaded an app, you may need to update your settings to allow this app to download:
- Click "Settings".
- Select the "Allow from this source" toggle and then the back arrow.
- Click "Settings".
- Click "Install".
- App Installed: Click "Open" and start casting to your Fire device again!
