Why isn't this title available through my streaming service?
Streaming services like Netflix, Amazon, Peacock, and Paramount+ regularly add and remove titles from their catalogs. When a movie or show moves from one streaming service to another, VidAngel needs to update on our end too. We call this a platform transfer.
What is a platform transfer?
A platform transfer happens when a title that was available on one streaming service becomes available on a different one. For example, a movie you used to watch through Netflix might move to Peacock, or a show on Peacock might become available through Amazon.
When this happens, you might notice that a title you've watched before on VidAngel suddenly shows as unavailable—even though VidAngel still has Filters for it. That's because VidAngel's Filters are tied to the specific streaming service version of a title, and the new version on the other service needs to be set up in our system.
Submit a platform transfer request
The best way to let us know a title has moved is to submit a request through VidAngel. This alerts our Content Team that you're waiting and helps us prioritize updates.
- Open the VidAngel app or go to www.vidangel.com and sign in.
- Use the Search feature and type in the title name.
- Select the "Request" tab.
- Fill out the form and select the streaming service where the title is now available.
- Click "Submit".
Pro tip: If you have the direct URL of the title on the new streaming service, paste it into the request form—it helps our team find the exact version faster.
For more details on submitting requests, see: How do I request filters for a movie or TV show?
VidAngel is an independent filtering service—we're not affiliated with or part of any streaming service. We have agreements that allow us to filter content from services like Netflix, Amazon, Peacock, and Paramount+, but we don't have any control over their catalogs. When they add, remove, or move titles around, we have to make the corresponding update on our end. Here's what that looks like:
If the title version is the same on both services: The update on our end is quick and straightforward. Think of it like changing an address—the title is the same; it just lives somewhere new.
If the title version is different: Some streaming services use different versions of the same movie or show (different cuts, different episode formats, etc.). When that happens, our Content Team needs to create new Filters for the new version, which takes more time.
It depends on the situation:
- Same version, different service: Usually a quick update once our team is on it.
- Different version: The title needs to go through our tagging process to add Filters, so it may take a bit longer—similar to the timeline for a brand-new title request.
The more requests a title gets, the higher the priority. So if you and your family are waiting on a specific title, submit that request—every one counts.
