How do I set up Parental Controls on VidAngel?
Meet your parental control superpowers: Locked Filters and Profile PINs. Stack them both for maximum peace of mind, or mix and match until it feels just right for your crew.
Locked Filters
Lock individual filters per profile so they can't be changed without your VidAngel account password. Locked Filters apply to every title on that profile (new or previously watched) no matter what device it's used on. Learn more here: Setup Locked Filters
Profile PINs
Require a 4-digit PIN to access any profile. This means kids can't switch to a parent's profile to change filter settings — or access content that's not meant for them. Learn more here: Set up Profile PINs
Your family-friendly toolkit
Locked Filters and PINs are just the start. Here are a few more ways VidAngel has your family covered.
Check in on what's been watched on any profile. My Activity shows a full watch history so you can see exactly what's been streamed—helpful for staying in the loop without hovering.

On your child's profile, build a curated Watchlist with only the titles you've approved. That way they have their own lineup ready to go—no wandering through the full catalog required.
Learn more here: Manage your Watchlist
Head to VidAngel's category page and filter by content rating to find age-appropriate titles. Available ratings include TV-Y7, G, PG, PG-13, and R—so you can browse with confidence right from the start.
Before you press play, Content Guides give you a quick, honest look at what's in a title—all the context you need to decide if it's a movie night yes before you're already 20 minutes in. Learn more here: Content Guides
Want to make sure certain titles never show up while your kids are browsing? You can permanently hide specific movies or shows from appearing on VidAngel—across all profiles. Learn more here: Hide or Unhide Shows
Your streaming services' parental controls
If you have Parental Controls enabled on your streaming service accounts, those restrictions should also apply while using VidAngel. This can include a PIN blocking our access or restricted ratings and titles. The PIN may need to be removed and the main profile should allow all ratings if you want to watch those through VidAngel. You may need to disconnect the service from VidAngel and then re-connect, so the new settings can sync.
These are some of the errors you can receive if you need to adjust your Parental Controls:
- Error: Content Restricted
- Error: Your streaming service credentials are no longer active
- Error: Provider has blocked the video
- Unexpected Error
