How do I set up Content Restrictions on VidAngel?

Want to make sure a profile only has access to age-appropriate content? Content Restrictions let you set a rating cap and block entire genres per profile, so every family member's experience stays exactly where you want it.

 

About Content Restrictions

Content Restrictions give you two tools in one:

  • Rating restrictions—Set the highest rating VidAngel can access on a profile. Any title above that rating won't be accessible on that profile. Available ratings include: TV-Y, TV-Y7, G, TV-G, PG, TV-PG, PG-13, TV-14, R, and TV-MA.

  • Genre restrictions—Block entire genres from appearing on a profile entirely. Available genres include: Action & Adventure, Animation, Comedy, Crime, Documentary, Drama, Family, History, Horror, Kids, Music, Mystery, Reality, Romance, Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Thriller, War & Politics, and Western.

Content Restrictions apply immediately to the entire profile—including titles already in progress, on the Watchlist, or in Continue Watching. If a title falls outside the allowed rating or a blocked genre, it will disappear from the profile entirely.

SET CONTENT RESTRICTIONS ON THE WEB
  1. Log in at www.vidangel.com and click "Manage Profiles".
    • Already inside a profile? Select your profile icon → "Manage Profiles" → "Manage Profiles" again on the Profiles page.
  2. Click the edit icon (pencil) on the profile you want to manage.
  3. Click the "Content Restrictions" field.
  4. Drag the slider to set the highest rating VidAngel can access on this profile. 
  5. To block a genre, click it. A blocked genre will appear highlighted in red with a 🚫 icon.
  6. Click "Done" to save.

SET CONTENT RESTRICTIONS ON THE MOBILE APP

  1. Open the VidAngel app and tap "Manage Profiles".
    • Already inside a profile? Tap "Me" → "Switch Profiles" → "Manage Profiles".
  2. Tap the profile you want to manage.
  3. Tap "Content Restrictions".
  4. Drag the slider to set the highest rating VidAngel can access on this profile. 
  5. To block a genre, tap it. A blocked genre will appear highlighted in red with a 🚫 icon.
  6. Tap "Done" to save.
