Did you get an error similar to "Unable to connect to "[your TV]" when trying to Airplay from VidAngel? Depending on your settings or when Apple makes updates, you may need to give added permissions or network access to our app to AirPlay. Local Network Access is a crucial security feature on iOS and iPadOS devices that allows you to decide which apps can interact with your home network.
If you've confirmed that:
- Your iPhone or iPad is on the same internet network as the device you're AirPlaying to, and
- You can AirPlay from other apps, but you're still not able to AirPlay from the VidAngel app,
Then you likely need to turn on the local permissions for the VidAngel app. Here how:
Enable Local Network Access in Settings
- On your iPad or iPhone, select Settings
- Select Privacy & Security
- Select Local Network. Here you'll see a list of apps requesting access to your local network.
- Find VidAngel and enable access.
If you don't see VidAngel under the Local Networks page:
- Force/hard close the VidAngel app.
- Uninstall the VidAngel app.
- Check for any software updates.
- Reboot your iPad or iPhone.
- Reinstall the VidAngel app.
- Try again to AirPlay. If you are prompted to allow local network permissions in app, allow it.
- If not, follow the initial steps above.
