VidAngel links to streaming channels like STARZ, Paramount+, PBS Masterpiece, BritBox, AMC+, and more through Amazon Channels. This is different from subscribing to these services directly. If you're subscribed to any of these channels through Amazon, VidAngel will link them all at once. However, if only Amazon Freevee and Amazon Video Rent/Buy is linked to VidAngel, but your other Amazon channels (like Prime, Paramount+, etc.) are not, here are a few things to check and try:
- You may just need to relink your Amazon account to VidAngel
- Confirm if the streaming service is through an Amazon Channels subscription
- Check if you're using the correct Amazon account
- Are you trying to watch on a Roku? If so, confirm the subscription plan does NOT include ads
NOTE: The information in this article is specific to additional Amazon subscription channels that will not link to VidAngel. If none of your Amazon or other streaming services will link at all, please check out: Streaming Services Will Not Link to VidAngel |
Relink your Amazon account
On VidAngel, all your Amazon Channel streaming services link at the same time. So when you add or upgrade an Amazon Channel streaming service, you will want to unlink and then relink your Amazon account with VidAngel to refresh the connection, and then we can detect the change. If needed, go to LINK STREAMING SERVICES.
Confirm the service is through Amazon Prime
If your subscription to STARZ, Paramount+, etc. is not through Amazon Channels on your Prime account, it cannot be linked to VidAngel.
To check if you have that service through Amazon, go here: Your Memberships & Subscriptions. Make sure the "View" dropdown menu selected is "Available with Prime".
You will need to see the Prime logo next to the service and the messaging, "This subscription uses your Prime membership payment method" is under the Payment method section.
Check the correct Amazon account
It's not uncommon to have multiple Amazon accounts in a household. Your Amazon Channel subscriptions may be under a different Amazon account from the one you linked to VidAngel. So, ensure you're using the correct Amazon account with VidAngel.
If you need help linking to a different Amazon account, you can find instructions for that here: Refresh the Connection
Roku: Confirm the streaming service plan does not include ads
Roku has rules for streaming services with commercials that we can’t fulfill as an add-on service. Because of this, content from these service plans will not play on the VidAngel Roku app:
- Amazon Freevee
- Prime with Ads
- Amazon Paramount+ Essential
- AMC+ with ads
- Peacock Premium
To view shows from these streaming services on your Roku, you will need to have the ad-free subscription plan.
If you’re open to using a different device, VidAngel works seamlessly with ad-based streaming plans on all VidAngel-compatible devices—except Roku. This ad-free requirement only applies to the Roku app.
Confirm your plan is ad-free
You can view and change your Amazon Channel subscriptions here: Amazon Account & Settings: Channels. Make sure you're in the "Channels" section and scroll down to "Your Subscriptions".
You can also view your Amazon Channel Subscriptions on the Prime Video app on your mobile (Not the Amazon shopping app):
- Select your profile icon in the upper-right corner
- Select Settings (gear icon) in the upper-right corner
- Select "Prime and subscriptions"
- Scroll down to view your different Amazon Channel subscriptions
Please be aware that if you upgrade Prime to ad-free, that does not automatically upgrade your add-on channels (Paramount+, AMC+) to ad-free. They must be upgraded separately.
"Friends and Family" or Business Amazon accounts
Do you use a "Friends and Family" Amazon account or a shared Business account through the Prime Sharing Program? We support these accounts, but keep in mind that rentals and ad-free upgrades are not shared.
For example, if Person A has an Amazon account with a Prime membership, they can share Prime benefits like streaming with others in their household (e.g., Person B, Person C) at no extra cost. However, if Person A rents a movie or upgrades to ad-free streaming, those extras won’t be shared with B or C. Each person would need to pay separately for rentals or the ad-free upgrade.
