Problems on Fire TV

Below are all the reasons you may not be running into trouble getting the VidAngel app on your Fire TV.

You device is incompatible

Your Fire TV needs to be running at least Fire OS 6 (generation 3 or newer) or Vega OS 1 in order to install the VidAngel app. You can check your OS by going to Settings > My Fire TV > About > look for Software Version.
If that doesn't work, you can go to Amazon Support if you need more assistance identifying your Fire TV device.  

You may see an "Unavailable" message on the download screen if your device is too old.

Outside the United States

We cannot support our service outside the United States, so you will not be able to find or install the app on your Fire TV if you are in another country. 

Two VidAngel apps

Long ago, VidAngel had an early beta app in the Amazon Appstore, and some customers also installed an older version manually. If you had either one, you might still see an old, non-working VidAngel app when you search.

Easy way to tell: check the app's background color. Black means it's the old beta app. Blue means you've got the right one!

Error: App Not Found

If you try to download the black app, which is our old, non-functioning app, you'll get the error: "App not Found: The app you are looking for could not be found." You will need to download the new app with the navy-blue background (see above).

Have the black beta app installed? 

Let's give it a friendly send-off:

1. Go to Settings (the gear).
2. Select Applications.
3. Select Manage Installed Applications.
4. Scroll down to VidAngel. 
   If you don't see it, you're all set!
5. Select VidAngel, then Uninstall.
6. Select Uninstall once more to confirm.

If your audio/sound is out of sync while in the VidAngel app, we have a solution for you!

In the VidAngel app, after you start a show, next to the subtitles button, you'll see an "Audio Sync" option.

This will allow you to change the audio offset for that show (it will reset back to 0 when you leave the player). It has settings from 0 to 15, which change the audio sync by multiples of 36 ms for technical reasons.

If that tech jargon didn't mean anything to you, all you need to do is select that button and keep changing the number until the audio syncs up.

If your show doesn't start on your Fire TV, there are a couple of things to look into:

Outdated App

Check for updates on your Fire TV

You should be able to check for updates by going to Settings > My Fire TV > About > Check for System Updates. If that doesn't work, please contact Amazon Support for instructions. 

Reboot your Fire TV

You might be surprised how often this actually works. You can restart the Fire TV by unplugging it or manually restarting it. You can restart it by going to Settings > My Fire TV > Restart. If that doesn't work, please contact Amazon Support for instructions. 

It would probably also be a good idea to reboot your internet router/modem.
