Chromecast using the mobile app

You can cast VidAngel from our Apple or Android mobile app to a basic Chromecast dongle or smart TV with Chromecast built-in.

Before you Start

Before starting the casting process, you'll want to ensure your VidAngel account and devices are all ready to go.

  1. Sign up for a VidAngel subscription at www.vidangel.com 
  2. Download the VidAngel mobile app. If needed, you can go here for additional instructions: Watch on a phone or tablet
  3. Connect streaming services in your VidAngel Account Settings: Connect streaming services on the mobile app
  4. If you already have VidAngel on your mobile, make sure you have the most updated version of our app: Update your VidAngel app
  5. Last, but certainly not least, ensure that your mobile device is on the same WIFI as your Chromecast dongle or smart TV with Chromecast built-in: Check if TV and mobile are on the same WIFI
  6. Recommended: Check your mobile device for any software updates.

You’re doing great! Now you're ready to Chromecast!

 

Chromecast to your TV 

  1. Find something you would like to watch, set your filters, and then tap on the "Watch with [Service]" button.
  2. The movie/episode will then verify.

  3. Once your title has been verified, select "Send to TV" or the TV cast icon in the corner of the episode.

  4. This will bring up a list of available devices on your network. Select the device you would like to use.
  5. You'll see "VidAngel Ready to cast" appear on your TV screen. Press the Play/Pause button in your app and it should start on TV!

 

Watching through Chromecast

After the show starts on your TV, you will be able to control it using your mobile app or you can use the TV's remote. You can even close the app and it will continue to play on the TV. 

If you want to disconnect from the TV you can easily do this by tapping on "Disconnect" in the VidAngel mobile app.
