Watch on Fire TV

Get the VidAngel app to watch with filters on your Fire TV or Firestick!

Before You Start

  1. Confirm your Fire device is at least a generation 3, running at least Fire OS 6.
    You can do this by going to Settings > My Fire TV > About > look for Software Version.
  2. Start a subscription at www.vidangel.com.
  3. Connect streaming services in your VidAngel Account Settings. Account Settings must be accessed on the VidAngel mobile app or website:  Connect services with the Fire TV app
  4. Recommended: Make sure your Fire device is up to date. The instructions are slightly different for a Firestick and a Fire Television:
    • Firestick: Settings > My Fire TV > About > Check for Updates.
    • Fire Television: Settings > Device & Software > About > Install Update

VIDANGEL COMPATIBLE FIRE TV DEVICES

VidAngel will work on these Fire TV devices:

  • FireTV Stick 3rd generation
  • FireTV Stick Lite
  • FireTV Stick 4K
  • FireTV Stick 4K Max
  • Fire TV Cube (both 1st and 2nd generation, as long as they’ve been updated to Fire OS 6)
  • FireTV 4-Series (a television manufactured by Amazon with Fire OS 6 built-in)
  • FireTV Omni Series (television manufactured by Amazon as their upgrade to the 4-series)
  • FireTV Edition Series (see exceptions below)
  • Any Toshiba TV with the FireTV label
  • FireTV Nebula Soundbar

VidAngel will NOT work on these Fire TV devices:
  • FireTV Stick Generation 1 or 2
  • FireTV Generation 1, 2 (thin square boxes)
  • FireTV Generation 3 (a diamond-shaped dongle)
  • FireTV Edition Series labeled under JVC, Onida, Croma, and OK

 

Uninstall the Old VidAngel App

The VidAngel Fire TV app was previously unavailable in the Amazon store but could be manually installed on your Fire TV or Firestick. If you have this sideloaded app version, let's get that uninstalled to avoid confusion.

  1. Go to "Settings" (the gear).
  2. Select "Applications".
  3. Select “Manage Installed Applications".
  4. Scroll down to "VidAngel".
    If don't you see the VidAngel app then you can skip the rest of these steps.
  5. Select VidAngel and then "Uninstall".
  6. Select “Uninstall” once more.

 

Install the VidAngel Fire TV app

  1. Open the Amazon Appstore on the Fire TV home screen. 
  2. Search for “VidAngel TV.”
  3. Click the VidAngel app with the blue background (NOT black) to download and install.

  4. Open the VidAngel TV app.
  5. Log in with your VidAngel account.

Sign Up

Did you skip the Before You Start section (you rascal) and still need to create an account? If you haven't already created a VidAngel account, you will need to go to the VidAngel website to do so:

  1. On a computer or mobile web browser go to: vidangel.com/signup 
  2. You will need to connect to streaming services on the VidAngel mobile app or website: Connect streaming services on the Fire TV app

 

Watching VidAngel on Fire TV

  1. Select a show in the VidAngel app.
  2. If desired, adjust Filters by selecting the "Filters" button.
  3. Select "Watch with [Service]" and wait for the title to verify.
  4. Enjoy your show!

PIN THE VIDANGEL APP

    1. Open your Fire TV home screen.
    2. Press and hold the Home button on your remote until the menu appears.
    3. Select "Apps" (3 squares with a +).
      This will take you to the "Your Apps & Channels Menu".

    4. Highlight the VidAngel app icon (don’t select it).
    5. Click the Options button on your remote (3 lines).
    6. Select "Move to Front" from the drop-down menu.
