Why am I getting the error, "Too Many Streams: You've exceeded your limit for simultaneous streams on [Service]"?
This error means you've hit the streaming limit set by your streaming service provider. The limit applies whether you're watching through VidAngel or directly on the service's native app.
The easiest fix for this error:
Simply close one of the active streams on any device. Once a stream stops, you can start a new one!
What causes this error
Each streaming service sets limits on how many streams can play simultaneously. These limits apply whether you watch through VidAngel or directly on the streaming service.
For example, if your Netflix plan allows 2 simultaneous streams and you're watching on netflix.com while someone watches a Netflix show through VidAngel, you've used both streams.
Why this happens: Streaming services track active streams across all apps and devices connected to your account—not just VidAngel.
Sorry that didn't work! Try these next steps:
Check what's currently streaming
The error message shows which streaming service exceeded the limit, what titles are playing, and which devices are using them.
Clear a false signal
Sometimes devices send false signals that a stream is active when it's not.
- Find one of the devices listed in the error message.
- Fully close VidAngel (don't just pause).
- Try playing your show again.
Close titles when finished watching
Back out of the video player completely after watching. A title is still "active" if you can see video player controls (Play, Pause, Fast-forward, Rewind).
Check your streaming service's limit
Verify your plan's simultaneous stream limit:
- Netflix plan limits
- Amazon Prime Video limits
- Paramount+ plan limits
- Peacock plan limits
- Apple TV streaming limits
Upgrade your streaming plan
If you regularly need more simultaneous streams, consider upgrading with your streaming provider.
