How do I create a Google account when I don't have Gmail?

Set up a Google account so you can access the Google Play Store and download the VidAngel app on your Android TV device.

 

Before you start

To access the Google Play Store and download the VidAngel app on your Android TV device (like Onn., Sony, or others), you'll need a Google account. The good news? You don't need a Gmail address—any email will work.

Before getting started, you'll need:

  • Your Android TV device powered on
  • An existing email address (if using Option 2)
  • A few minutes to complete setup

NOTE: If you see the error "Couldn't find your Google Account," it means the email you're trying to use isn't registered as a Google account yet. This article will show you how to fix that.

Create a Google account

OPTION 1: CREATE A NEW GMAIL ADDRESS

If you'd like to create a brand-new Gmail email address directly on your device, follow these steps.

 

Step 1: Start account creation

On your Android TV device, select "Create Account."

Step 2: Follow the setup prompts

You'll be guided through the setup process and asked for your information (name, birthdate, etc.).

 

Step 3: Choose your email address

You can either:

  • Use an automatically suggested Gmail address, or
  • Create your own custom Gmail address

 

Step 4: Accept terms and finish

Scroll down and accept the Privacy and Terms. You'll be taken to the home screen of your device.

You're done! You can now access the Google Play Store to download the VidAngel TV app.

OPTION 2: USE AN EXISTING EMAIL ADDRESS

Already have an email you love (Yahoo, Hotmail, AOL, or anything else)? You can register it as a Google account without creating a new Gmail address.

 

Step 1: Create your Google account online

  1. On a computer or phone, go to: Create your Google Account
  2. Fill in the requested information

 

Step 2: Choose your sign-in method

On the "Choose how you'll sign in" page, select "Use your email address" instead of creating a new Gmail address.

Step 3: Enter your email

Enter your existing email address (like yourname@yahoo.com or yourname@hotmail.com). This will link your email to a new Google account.

 

Step 4: Complete setup

  1. Verify your email address through the confirmation message sent to your inbox
  2. Create a password for your Google account
  3. Choose your Google account settings

You've created your Google account! Now let's connect it to your Android TV device.

 

Step 5: Sign in on your Android TV device

  1. On your Android TV device, navigate to "Settings" (usually at the top right of the screen)

  2. Select "Accounts & Sign In"
  3. Select "+ Add Account"
  4. Select "Sign In"

  5. Enter your email address and the password you just created for your Google account

Success! You can now access the Google Play Store to download the VidAngel TV app.
